Shape memory alloy demonstration models are devices made from shape memory alloys in different structure patterns to show their unique shape memory features. These models include the twin-wheel thermal engines, eccentric crank thermal engines, self open-close flower and self-expanding spring.
1¡¢Twin-wheel engine
The twin-wheel engine is a device that could transform heat energy into mechanic energy. It works through the two wheels driven by the moment of force on the driven wheel, which is produced in the phase-transition process of SMA wire or belt. The heat energy comes from hot water with temperature of 65¡æ~85¡æ. The shape memory effect is well demonstrated in this device by the incessant turning of the two wheels. TiNiCu SMA is used in this device.
The twin-wheel engines are readily available in five types according to the diameter of the driven wheel: 60mm, 80mm, 100mm, 120mm and 220mm. Other sizes of the engine could also be provided at customer¡äs order.
2¡¢Eccentric crank engine
The eccentric crank engine is a device driven by the moment of the force produced by the constriction and elongation of SMA springs all round the wheels. The heat energy comes from hot water with temperature of 65¡æ~85¡æ. Put the engine into the hot water with the core under the water, and the wheels could turn continuously. The engines are readily availble according to the diameter of the big wheel: 120mm and 250mm. The engine could also be provided on customer£¬s requirement.
3¡¢Automatic on-off flower
The automatic on-off flower is made on the basis of SMAs two-way memory effect. The chrysanthemum-like flower could automatically turn-on and turn-off. The heat energy comes from the hot water or wind, and the working temperature is 65¡æ~85¡æ. The diameter of the alabastrum is 80mm, and that of the opened flower is 200mm. It could also be provided at customer¡äs requirement.
4¡¢Auto-retractable spring
The auto-retractable spring is made on the basis of SMA¡äs two-way memory effect. It could elongate and shorten automatically depending on the change of the environment temperature. The heat energy could be hot water or wind, and the working temperature is 65¡æ~85¡æ. The free length is 45mm, and the elongated length is 200mm.
