On November 27th, 1952, Ministry of Heavy Industry prepared
to construct the Industrial Experiment Institute of Non-ferrous
Metals, which was one of the three biggest Experiment institutes
of national integrated industry (including steel, non-ferrous
and chemistry industry).
# In 1957, begun the
research on titanium and titanium alloy, and in 1958, the
first titanium ingot free of tungsten impurity was smelted
successfully.
#
In January 1958, the Industrial Experiment Institute of Non-ferrous
Metals was renamed as the General Institute of Non-ferrous
Metals, Ministry of Metallurgy.
# From 1958 to 1964,
the separation and extraction processes for sixty-four elements
in the Elementary Periodic Table have been achieved, which
ensured the development of the non-ferrous metals industry
in China.
# In 1964, fulfilled
the trial-manufacturing of sixty-six new precious metal products,
and from 1965 to 1967, completed the trial-production of more
than one hundred new precious metal products.
# In 1979, begun the
research of composite contact material with precious metals,
and in 1985, a production line of silver-copper composite
rivet contact was introduced, which achieved an annual output
